Industrial producer price index down 0.23% on last year – NSO

Provisional data indicate that the industrial producer price index in May 2016 decreased by 0.23 per cent when compared to the corresponding month in previous year, the National Statistics Office said today. This was due to a drop in prices within intermediate goods (0.76 per cent).
On the other hand, prices within capital goods and consumer goods increased by 0.28 and 0.23 per cent respectively. No price changes occurred in the energy sector.
Producer prices for the domestic market increased by 0.93 per cent. Price increases were recorded in intermediate goods (1.47 per cent), consumer goods (1.35 per cent) and capital goods (0.66 percent).
Non-domestic prices decreased by 1.03 per cent, resulting from a drop in prices of 0.85 per cent within the euro area and 1.14 per cent within the non-euro area.
During May the producer price index for total industry decreased by 1.08 per cent. Prices for intermediate goods dropped by 2.44 per cent. On the other hand, prices rose by 0.04 per cent within consumer goods. Capital and energy prices remained the same.
Domestic market prices increased by 0.01 per cent. This was due to a rise of 0.02 per cent in the prices within the consumer goods sector.
Prices for the non-domestic market declined by 1.84 per cent. This was due to price decreases of 1.28 per cent within the euro area and of 2.16 per cent in the non-euro area.
