Federation for Hunting and Conservation Malta (FKNK) CEO Lino Farrugua, has accused the European Commission of "bullying tactics" during it press conference on – Spring Hunting, the European Union and the Moratorium.

"The European Commission shouldn't continue with bullying tactics with the smallest Member State in the European Union (EU), of course I am referring to the Maltese islands," he said

He added that, "in our opinion, the cause of the pitiful situation, that the Maltese hunter and trapper has got himself into, is Malta's EU Membership. No more, no less."

"Even though the FKNK has no desire to enter into political affairs and polemics, it cannot desist from addressing the recent historic event that occurred in Great Britain's referendum when the British population, in its sovereignty, voted for the British Isles to give-up its 43 year-old EU membership, Farrugia said.

"It is no secret that the FKNK has issues with the manner by which the EU Commission tends to unilaterally interpret the various clauses of the EU `Birds' Directive."

The EU persists in treading on individual cultures and traditions," Farrugia said, "thus alienating itself from the layman European Citizen who finds himself at the mercy of a system that completely ignores his individual being."

He stated that this may be seen, by many, to be an "organised dictatorship against which there is very little that can be done."

"This historic decision by the majority of British people will hopefully illuminate the powers that be, with the fact that the decisions taken in Brussels, directly affect the lives of human beings and not robots."

Lino Farrugia concluded by saying that "decisions that fall within a pre-determined system created on a uniform platform by a few that seem to believe that they have God-given rights to dictate."
