MUT gives initial reaction on amendments to the Education ActFollowing the launch of the amendments to the Education Act for consultation, the Malta Union of Teachers said that it will be reviewing the proposed documents in detail and will be issuing its detailed position in the coming weeks.

The MUT said that in its initial reaction it welcomes the adoption of two of its proposals: That of the inclusion of Kindergarten Assistants and Learning Support Assistants in an amended Council for Educators, which will translate into licensing/warranting of all educators.

The second proposal is the inclusion of a provision through a newly-proposed board to address situations where educators and parents are not in agreement about educational decisions taken in the best interest of children.

The MUT is encouraging all educators to participate in the consultation process about the new act.
