Rehearsals are in full swing on the Gozo Live play performance which takes place on Thursday at the Cornucopia Hotel in Xaghra.

The organisers said that all of the plays presented were entered in this year's play writing competition and many of them "are evocative of life on this lovely island."

This year all the entries received were in English. Themes are varied: experience the terror of a mysterious cave in Nadur; see what a man does to hide his divorce from his conservative mother; listen to the gossip at a dinner party; find out how an old bedridden man assures himself of a pretty young visitor; follow a man in Gozo Hospital who finds interest in his young doctor; an expat couple in Gozo find their marriage in trouble and sort it out in a unique way.

The audience will also hear two poems by a talented young Gozitan poet.

The event is taking place in the pool area of the hotel (weather permitting). Drinks, snacks and meals are all available from the hotel.

Entrance is free and all are welcome to the performance which gets underway at 8pm.
