The Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disability and the Elderly, Dr Justyne Caruana, has today announced the second year of the campaign of Christmas wishes for the elderly in Gozo and Malta – Nahseb Fik (I am thinking of you).

Dr Caruana said that during this festive season some elderly will unfortunately be alone, such as those who no longer have close family, or are maybe without any visitors.

Last year the campaign had its initial launch in Gozo, when some 200 elderly people saw their Christmas wishes come true.

These persons have submitted their Christmas wishes on the site http://www.nahsebfik.com/ with the hope of having their wishes fulfilled.

"On the site you will find the wishes of one of the most vulnerable groups in our society – elderly people. A substantial amount of them would usually spend their Christmas alone, receive no Christmas cards, no phone calls and no presents. Besides being alone, they also face social difficulties to cope with everyday life."

Please visit the website if you think that you can help fulfil any of the Christmas wishes and make this festive season a happy one for many senior citizens.

Anyone who wants to take part in this campaign can call the Parliamentary Secretariat on 25903156 or visit the above website, or send email to info@nahsebfik.com. This can be done until Thursday, the 15th of December, and gifts should be taken to the office of the Parliamentary Secretariat Palazzo Ferreria, Valletta between 9.00am and 1.00pm.
