The Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem Organising Committee and Ghajnsielem Local Council has advised that there will be an extra opening for the animation of the Nativity Village – Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem, this Friday, the 30th of December between 4.00pm and 8.00pm.

This eighth edition of Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem has even more attractions for visitors to enjoy, with the carpenter and blacksmith’s dwellings, the bakery, an open-air market selling seasonal fruits, fish and a wide selection of vegetables, a local crafts area promoting traditional skills and folklore, a tavern, a farmhouse with panoramic roof and the Bethlehem Inn.

Children will have the opportunity to learn about Maltese folklore or try one of the several ‘hands-on’ tools while families can enjoy the unique surroundings of the Maltese countryside or try some local savoury.

Visitors can also cross a rope bridge to take a trip along the river on a Maltese boat. The main attraction certainly remains the grotto, with baby Jesus in the caring hands of Mary assisted by Joseph with a donkey and a cow close by.

Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem is situated just 5 minutes walk from Mgarr Harbour terminal. Public transport is also available.

Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem will close on Sunday, the 8th of January with the ‘Adoration of the Magi.’ The Three Kings will depart from a yet-to-be announced location a few days earlier, before making the triumphal entrance on horseback late in the afternoon to pay homage to the Baby Jesus.

The nativity village will also be animated on the following days:

Saturday 31st December 2.30pm – 7.30pm

Sunday 1st January 3.30pm – 8.00pm

Saturday 7th January 4.30pm – 8.30pm

Sunday 8th January 2.00pm – 8.00pm **

Should the weather not permit, the organisers reserve the right to cancel the animation

** Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem will once again close with the Adoration of the Magi on the Feast of Epiphany, Sunday 8th January.

Public transportation is encouraged when travelling to Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem. Visitors can choose either to leave their car at Cirkewwa Terminal and walk up to the crib from Mgarr Harbour or park their car in the Ghajnsielem centre and walk down to the entrance. Parking is also available at Ghajnsielem F.C. football grounds.
