The Open Mic will be crossing over from Malta for an evening at Zeppi’s Pub, in Qala, Gozo, this coming Friday, hosted by Inizjamed.

Everyone is invited to share with them a poem or a story. A stand-up or a music performance will be equally welcomed.

Inizjamed said that, “it is now time for those line that had been scribbled on a notebook to be aired and shared. Our language is translation and thus the more languages and dialects we have, the better.”

This Open Mic will also be the springboard for all activities related to the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival, and on the night there will be two special guests – Immanuel Mifsud and Mark Camilleri, that will be performing at the Festival itself come August.

Entrance and participation are free, the evening gets underway at 8.00pm. For more information email inizjamedprojects@gmail.com or check out the Facebook event.

Inizjamed is a voluntary non-governmental cultural organisation, founded in 1998 in Malta that is committed towards the regeneration of culture and artistic expression in the Maltese Islands and, they said, “actively promote a greater awareness of the cultures of the Mediterranean.”

They describe themselves as “a secular, non-partisan organisation that acknowledges that every generation must seek to create its own language and both respond to realities of its day and look beyond them.”
