Following the death last month of Mons. George Grima, founder and president of the Missionary Movement Jesus in thy Neighbour, the Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech has this week appointed Fr Alex Cauchi as the new president.

In a statement the Bishop said that by this appointment, the missionary work started by Father George, will continue to grow.

Fr Alex Cauchi, is from the Parish of the Visitation, Gharb, and has been a missionary in Brazil and Peru since 1995.

The Bishop added that as Fr Alex will not be in Gozo until next January, he has appointed Mons. Paul Cardona, Episcopal Vicar for the Clergy, as an interim president.

The Statue of the Movement requires that a new president be appointed by the Bishop of Gozo.
