In a statement, it said that this being done as a sign “that no attack on freedom of expression is accepted in our democracy.” This will also be “a demonstration of respect from one united country,” it said.
The Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar, has already written to the Permanent Secretaries, Director Generals, Directors and Heads of Public Entities to advise that the flags on all public buildings are to be flown at half-mast.
The government called on everyone to observe this national day of mourning, saying that, “our democracy should be strong at times such as these.”
