CROSS Channel Expo, has been inaugurated by the Minister for Gozo, Justyne Caruana.

Dr Caruana said that the exhibition is a joint effort by two artists, Mark Mallia – a well established Maltese artist,. While the other is a young, very talented Gozitan – David Debono.

Symbiotic contrasts is the theme of the exhibition, the channel geographically divides the two islands – thus giving them a separate identity.

There is a generation gap, or channel if you will, which divides Mark from David, the former being in his fifties, while the latter is in his thirties.
The artists explained that a conceptual polarity exists insofar as Mark’s art is expressionistic and unencumbered while David’s art is subdued, earthy and painfully personal.

CROSS Channel Expo is described as a celebration of synthesis in Maltese art despite intrinsic artistic differences.

The exhibition is taking place at the Sentinella, at the Citadel, Victoria. It remains open to the public until the 26th of November.
