WasteServ Malta Ltd. have announced that during the festive season, all WasteServ Civic Amenity Sites will still be open to receive and assist the public between 7.30am to 5.30pm daily, including weekends and public holidays. The only two days to have reduced opening hours will be Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, when the sites will be open between 7.30 am and 11am.
The WasteServ Civic Amenity Sites, or centres for bulky waste, are controlled facilities where members of the public can bring and discard a variety of waste items separately. They allow the public to drive through, to separately dispose of different materials including electronic waste, used furniture items, garden waste, cardboard, mattresses, spent medicines and waste oils. Containers to receive the waste fractions, which are normally deposited at the Bring-in Sites, are also available at these facilities. Civic Amenity Sites are situated in Hal Far, Luqa, Maghtab and Mriehel.
WasteServ Chairman, Perit Ben Farrugia, commented that “Civic Amenity Sites will open regularly throughout the holidays, chiefly because we believe in a customer-oriented service. People are more at home during their vacations and might have more time for DIY or home improvement, and thus the continuous provision of this bulky waste service is crucial”.
This project is being part-financed through the European Union Structural Funds, with an estimated value of 4.6 Million Euros, and includes five facilities (four are already operational in Malta and one is currently being developed in Gozo). The government is co-funding 27% of the project.
