A French diver was grievously injured this afternoon, after getting into difficulties whilst diving in Xatt l-Ahmar Bay, near Ghajnsielem, Gozo.

Police said that the incident happened at around 3.30pm, when the 53-year old man, who was with a group of divers, found himself in difficulty and was brought ashore.

He was rushed to the Gozo General Hospital, where he was later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

A Magisterial Inquiry was appointed into the case, whilst Police investigations are still ongoing.
