A tender for works has been issued for the regeneration of Pjazza Santa Margerita in Sannat.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana. She said that this call took place following discussions on the merits of the project held in collaboration with the Sannat Local Council.

Dr Caruana added that as part of Project Gozo, this will be the third call issued in the past few weeks, the other two squares being in Xewkija, and St Francis Square, Victoria.

They not only regenerate the squares, but will as holistic projects, provide a better quality of life for the residents, with easier accessibility, improved traffic management and open spaces that can be enjoyed through better quality infrastructure in Gozo, the Minister said.

Minister Caruana went on to say that as well as Sannat Square, there is also the continuation of the work on the road that leads from Victoria to Sannat, with the tender currently under evaluation, for the work on stormwater culverts and the reconstruction of Part of Triq Sannat.

Dr Caruana thanked Sannat Mayor Philip Vella and the Local Council for their work. The Mayor said that the Council had been working on this ambitious project for several years, and now the dream will be become a reality for the residents of Sannat.

He thanked the Minister for the commitment shown and stressed that the Local Council is ready to see project through to completion and will provide all the necessary support.
