CABS have said that two poachers were caught in Hal-Far this morning and Police seized two shotguns, illegal silencers and an electronic bird caller.

In a statement CABS said that its teams monitoring the fields west from the airport (Misrah Hlantun) filmed two hunters at around 7am this morning who were shooting at birds during the closed season. Both men used illegal silencers to suppress the noise of their shotguns, said CABS.

The birdwatchers alerted the A.L.E. who, they said, “responded very quickly and caught both men in the act.”

CABS reported that after being confronted with the fact that their illegal activity has been recorded on camera both men admitted to the charges and criminal proceedings have been instituted against them. The two shotguns and an illegal bird caller were seized.

CABS concluded by praising the police officers for their “quick intervention and successful efforts to apprehend the poachers red-handed.”
