The English Speaking Union in Gozo has organised a number of free lessons for Gozitan children and adolescents on public speaking.
Speaking at one of the events, the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana praised this initiative and remarked that from an early age our children must be taught and given skills to be able to express their views and lead through their voice.
During the lessons students had the opportunity to practice English and speak, debate and exchange ideas which covered various topics.
The lessons were provided by qualified persons with degrees, masters and doctorates in English.
Dr Caruana explained that the aim is to nurture children in a comfortable environment in the art of conversation in public, and in front of audiences that they are not always familiar with.
“This further connects with the various initiatives taken by the Ministry for Gozo to foster a sense of active citizenship, including a regional committee of children that are making a number of suggestions and ideas that the Ministry for Gozo can then implement,” the Minister said.
