Former International Officer of the SDM, Gozitan Beppe Galea, has today been appointed as the new Secretary General of the European Democrat Students, the student association of the European People’s Party (EPP).

SDM congratulated Beppe on his appointment, which they said follows the election of the new Bureau led by Chairman Carlo Giacomo Angrisano Girauta.

The election took place at the Annual Council Meeting held today as part of the EDS Summer University in Bucharest, Romania.

As Secretary General he will be in charge of the administrative structures of the organisation including its financial affairs.

Among other duties Beppe Galea will also represent EDS at the European Youth Forum and the EPP Political Assembly.

In 2017-2018 he also served as Vice Chairman in charge of media and communications of the Organisation.

Beppe was an active member of SDM between 2014 and 2018 and served on the Executive Board for 3 successive terms, as SDM’s first Gozo Coordinator and subsequently as International Officer.

SDM extended its best wishes to the new EDS Executive Bureau and said that it looks forward to renewed co-operation between the two entities in the best interests of Maltese and European students.
