A Pre-Budget public consultation meeting was held at the Citadel in Gozo on Friday evening, with Finance Minister Edward Scicluna.

Minister Scicluna stated that the Government is committed to supporting economic growth and that it reaches more Gozitan families and businesses.

During the discussions, Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, said that topics covered included some of the major challenges faced during this legislature, such as economic stagnation, job creation, foreign direct investment, seasonal tourism and accessibility.

Dr Caruana said that Gozo has improved and advanced. “Now we move to the next phase to prepare for the future for Gozo and with this in mind the Ministry has presented a package of strong measures to be considered for the upcoming budget.”

The theme of the Pre-Budget document is Sustaining Inclusive Growth – and the Government said that the strengthening of the public institutions including the justice system, as well as sustaining the investment in the health and education sectors, will remain a priority
