The Gozo Business Chamber is celebrating its 20th anniversary today. In a statement, it said that the past twenty years have been “very demanding” for the Chamber.

It remarked that they had been “years of sacrifice and action so that Gozo can continue to move forward both economically, and socially.”

“Various presidents, councillors, and members who have worked in the Chamber over the years, all gave their contribution so that the problems Gozo would be facing at any point would be solved,” said the Chamber. “This meant a constant commitment to ensure that Gozo’s voice would be heard in all fora.”

The Chamber stressed that this event is not simply an anniversary for them, but represents also a moment of reflection on where the Chamber needs to continue to move forward.

It added that, “this means recognising the new challenges Gozo is facing and the way the Chamber can prepare itself in the best manner possible to face them, so that it is in a position to give its contribution at all levels, including the social sphere.”

“The role of the Chamber in an environment which is constantly evolving is still relevant nowadays, both on a national and at an international level.”

The Gozo Business Chamber concluded by saying that “the present situation in the country calls for a serious reflection on the national social situation, not only on the governmental institutions, but also on the increasingly important role of civil society, so that all of them can be the drivers that bring to fruition all the changes that are needed.”
