An agreement has been signed for the regeneration of Munxar Square, through a direct investment of €800,000 by the Ministry for Gozo.

Gozo Minister Dr Justyne Caruana has announced the agreement between the Ministry and the Munxar Local Council.

Dr Caruana said, “today we start another initiative mentioned in the last budget, with the Munxar Square project now moving to the implementation phase through an investment by the Ministry for Gozo.”

The Minister said that this is an important project which will not only allow aesthetic embellishment of the village square, but will also increase the accessibility and ancillary facilities that are compatible with the vision of Eco-Gozo.

“This is a concrete example that the Ministry for Gozo is strongly investing in Gozitan localities and all that they have to offer, including the village of Munxar where in the next few days work on Munxar Road will also be finished, through Ministry funding,” said Dr Caruana.

Mayor of Munxar Damien Spiteri said that this project has been a dream of local residents for many years, and is now being realised thanks to Minister Caruana listening to the request of the Council

Munxar Councillor Joseph Cauchi expressed his satisfaction that after so many years, the village will have a “new-look square.”
