It was a very muddy afternoon’s racing for the fourth round of the Gozo Motocross Championship-fuelledbyenemed 2020 at Ta’ Xhajma Track on Sunday afternoon.

There was a downpour of rain just as the racing was due to get underway, changing the track conditions instantly.

The start was delayed by 30 minutes and the very muddy track ensured that the riders had a tough time navigating their bikes due to the slippery state around some parts of the circuit.

The GMA said that “our brave riders plunged through Heat 1 with great courage.” As the races progressed during the afternoon, so the conditions of the track became more manageable.

The only rider in Class A was Steve Xuereb, while in Class B, Robert Spiteri came in third following Daniel Portelli in 2nd place. Jorn Stellini achieved first place as he had the largest amount of points.

Isaac Bartolo won Class C. He was followed by Silvan Caruana who came in second place.

Meanwhile in class D, young Mark Camilleri and Luke Caruana opted out of heat 1. Jurgen Attard achieved maximum points and came in first, followed by Steve Cassar in second place.

Veteran Scott Donovan decided to join the class on Sunday and he also managed to place third.

Wenzu Mercieca, director of Mezzan Garage handed trophies to each winner.

Gozo Motocross Association advised that the next event will be a FunRace which will be held on Sunday, the 26th of January at. Ta’ Xhajma Track, racing starts at 1pm.

These friendly competitions are synonymous with the Gozitan trekk as even new riders try their luck on the trekk. 80cc and 125cc competitions will be held.

Round 5 of this championship will take place on Sunday, the 9th of February 2020, races will start at 1pm.

The Association said that it encourages and welcomes new riders.
