President of the Gozo Business Chamber and INSULEUR (the Insular Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the European Union) Joseph Borg, has participated, on behalf of INSULEUR, in the 1st Annual Assembly of the Blue Growth Community, which was held in Montpellier, France.

The first day of this two-day event covered the sustainability dimension of the Blue Economy, synergies and cooperation between all Mediterranean Countries.

Also discussed by speakers of the day were harmonisation and strengthening the use of coastal and maritime planning, the rational use of funds and durable financial instruments, as well as education and awareness raising.

The final day outlined the Blue Growth Advisory Board and cooperation dynamics; and discussed the first steps towards result’s transferring and mainstreaming into the different levels of policy-making actors.

The Blue Growth Community is focused on the implementation of a sustainable blue economy in the Mediterranean by strengthening its links with multi-level key actors of the blue economy, and through the identification of common challenges.
