Final preparations are underway to ensure that Gozo is ready to welcome the thousands of visitors, both local and tourists, who will be visiting the island for the very popular Carnival weekend.

The fun starts next Friday when Carnival opens with the Gozo Regional Carnival and the Nadur Spontaneous Carnival. As already advised, Malta Public Transport is running special bus services to Nadur over the weekend.

This year’s Gozo Regional Carnival will include live links on PBS on Sunday and will be broadcast live on PBS on Monday.

The programme for the Gozo Regional Programme is as follows:

Friday 21st February 6.00pm-9.00pm: Official opening Grand Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Followed by a spectacle of dance companies, grotesque masks and the traditional Komittiva in Independence Square.)

Saturday 22nd February 9.30am- Midday: Children’s Carnival

Defile’ with all participants of the Gozo Regional Carnival along Republic Street to Independence Square.

There will be a dance spectacle with the participation of dance companies and school groups. It will include humorous sketches, the traditional Komittiva, triumphal floats, Maltese carnival groups and grotesque masks among the many participants.Saturday 22nd March 6.00pm-9.00pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Sunday 23rd February 2.30pm-5.00pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square..
