The Planning Authority has said that it has decided to restart the public hearings for Planning Commission meetings, however, will only be deciding those cases where no issues were raised during the planning processing of the application and for which there are no registered objectors.
The PA in a statement said that it will be taking all the necessary precautionary measures to safeguard public health and abide by all the directives issued by the Health Authorities.
For cases that are applicable, the Commission said it will be contacting the applicant/Perit and offer them the option of participating in the public meeting through video conferencing or in person.
If the applicant and Perit opt to attend the hearing, only the Perit will be allowed into the room and will need to respect social distancing regulations.
If, for any reason, an applicant/Perit should opt not to attend the public hearing or communicate with the commission via video conferencing, then the Commission will defer the application to a later date.
Regarding the Planning Board meeting scheduled this coming Thursday, the Authority said that it is in liaison with the Health Authorities. This is being done further to the directives issued yesterday, and a decision will be communicated as soon as possible.
The Authority said that it has invested heavily in ICT technology which is enabling it to continue to render its customers an efficient and complete service, especially in such challenging times.
Within days, the PA said that it swiftly shifted its employees to work remotely, allowing the processing of planning applications to continue uninterrupted.
