Update with revised figure – At Thursday’s daily update, Supt. of Public Health Prof Charmaine Gauci, said that 7 new cases of Covid-19 had been reported in the past 24-hours, 6 were contracted through local transmission and 1 is travel related, the patient’s ages range from 22 to 59-years old.

The number of cases now stands at 195, with a total of 8,287 swab tests taken so far.

Earlier the number of cases were reported were 8, however it was confirmed that 1 had been tested as positive on Wednesday, they were retested again on Thursday which resulted in another positive result.

There are 2 patients in ITU, with a patient who previously was in critical condition now having taken a turn for the better.

There are 10 patients in Mater Dei  with another 16 recovering in a private hospital, and the rest quarantined at home under medical observation.

Prof Gauci explained that symptoms such as coughs and fever were experienced by many of the patients, however, gastric ailments had been another symptom shown by some.

She reiterated the need to comply with the measures issued by the health authorities – on social distancing, and those who are vulnerable should remain in their homes whenever possible.
