34 people were each fined €100 during the continuous patrols that the Police are doing to ensure that there are no groups of more than 3 persons gathered in public places. Police said that they also issued 1 fine to a hairdresser who was operating illegally behind closed doors.

During the 272 inspections carried out in the last 24 hours, Police said that 1 person was found breaking quarantine.

This evening, Police said that it “would like to thank the majority of the public who are abiding by the regulations and are avoiding going out unnecessary despite the good weather, we know it’s not easy but together we can do it. Keeping our fingers crossed for tomorrow Easter Sunday.”

The Government on Saturday reiterated that “we are entering two very crucial weeks. During these Easter holidays and the days that follow, we have a simple choice ahead of us. Either we are very disciplined, responsible, and follow the directives given by the health authorities, or more restrictive measures have to be imposed.”

It stressed that “this is a make or break period. If we obey, we will be able to move on from this period rapidly. If we relax our attitude, we will remain in this situation longer and the authorities have made it clear that from next week more restrictive measures would have to be announced.”

“The heroes in the health sector are doing sterling work and we cannot be the ones to undermine them by leaving our homes and running about,” the Government said.

“Together we can do this – it is in our hands.”
