The refurbishment of Marsalforn Police station has been completed, through an investment of €130,000.

In a statement, the Ministry for Gozo explained that a modern station now replaces what was a derelict one only a few months ago, and which is able to provide a better service to all, especially during the summer months.

Minister for the Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri and Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri visited the station and expressed satisfaction at how the work also complements the other investment made in this tourist area which attracts thousands of people all year round.Minister Byron Camilleri said that the refurbished station will be fully accessible to people with special needs due to the installation of a lift. Other works included infrastructure improvements and investment in technology.

He added that the government’s vision is for more police on the road and investment in patrols will not stop, while the Police Force is also investigating how it can make better use of these properties.

“Our vision is that of more police on the streets and being closer to the citizens. However, where we have open stations they must be of an appropriate standard,” the Minister added.

The Minister for Gozo, Clint Camilleri, said that this project means an improvement in the environment in which the police officers work.

He explained that new projects not only mean road infrastructure, but also renovation and maintenance on buildings that serve the people.

He concluded by thanking Minister Byron Camilleri, saying that in the plan to modernise police stations, he is also giving importance to police stations in Gozo, ensuring that they are being made safer.
