During Sunday’s daily briefing on the Covid-19 situation, Supt of Public Health Prof Charmaine Gauci advised that 1 new case had been reported in the past 24-hours.

The 1 case is a female Serbian aged 29, who is working in Malta.

Prof Gauci said that 306 cases are currently active, with a further 19 patients announced as recovered – 5 female and 14 male aged between 20 and 80-years old – making 118 in total.

The recovered cases will remain under quarantine for the next 14 days, with 1 of them recovering in the Gozo General Hospital.

Prof Gauci said that 787 swab tests had been carried out during the past 24-hours. She explained that many people who had appointments for tests hadn’t turn up for them, which accounted for the lower numbers. She said testing should still be made even if the symptoms had diminished because the person could still be carrying and passing on the virus.

She wen on to say that the low numbers of cases are due to the measures that are being carried out, with people remaining inside, and urged the public to keep following the directives in order to prevent the virus spreading.
