Supt of Public Health Prof Charmaine Gauci, in today’s update on the current Covid-19 situation, said that new 5 cases had been reported in the past 24-hours, from 1,207 tests taken, with 36 more people recovered.
The cases are, a 33-year old Sudanese man, a 41-year old Filipino man, a 49-year old Maltese man, a 52-year old Maltese woman and a 27-year old Maltese woman who although having no symptoms, tested positive when she was screened before surgery.
Prof Gauci said that contact tracing will be carried out.
She went on to say that there are 463 cases, 120 are currently active, there have been 4 deaths. 31,736 swab tests have been taken in total so far.
Prof Gauci once again appealed to the public to continue following the directives set out by the authorities, saying that these low numbers are as a result of the measures and because of the public keeping to the social distancing.
