Gharb man sentenced to 2 years imprisonment after drugs bust

The 34-year old man from Gharb who was arrested in Victoria on Friday on drugs charges, has been arraigned in the Gozo Court where he pleaded guilty to all charges brought against him and was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment.

The man was arrested, following an operation by the Police Anti-Drug Squad. He had been seen leaving his residence on Friday morning and driving towards Qala, where he entered into another property. Police said he later left there and drove towards Victoria.

Police stopped the car in Independence Square at around 11.30am, following a search of the car they found a bag containing an amount of white substance suspected to be cocaine.

The Drugs Squad Police, assisted by the K9 Unit also conducted a search in his residence in Gharb, and the other residences he had been seen entering in Qala. Cannabis grass and white substance suspected to be cocaine were found during the searches.
