Silvio Schembri, Minister for the Economy, Investment & Small Businesses, has said that he will “not tolerate inflated prices for disposable surgical masks or face shields.”

“So as Economy Minister and through a legal notice, in the interest of citizens from tomorrow, the 4th of May, the maximum price for surgical masks will be 0.95c while the maximum price for face shields will be €5,” he said.

In case of abuse, a Police report can be made on 22944504 or 22944511 or pulizija@gov.mt.

Those caught violating this legal notice for the first time may incur a fine of between €116 and €582, which will increase up to €2,329 for a number of offences, the Minister said.
