Archbishop Charles Scicluna in a statement today, has said that liturgical celebrations will start again on the 13th of June, however, the number of people who will be able to enter inside for Mass is dependent on the size of the church, otherwise it will be held outside.

The Archbishop stressed that precautionary measures will be implemented, such as temperatures being taken before entering for Mass, social distancing, wearing face masks and visors, as well as washing of hands. These have been done following discussions with the authorities, he said.

There will also be signs inside the church showing where the congregation can be seated. Also there should be no physical contact with any other person during the Mass.

For Communion, people are asked to stay in their place and the priest, wearing a mask or visor will approach them to give them the Host after first washing his hands with sanitiser.

The statement of faith in which the priest says “The Body of Christ” and the person answers “Amen” will only be said once from the altar.

At the end of the Mass, those present for the funeral must depart in an orderly manner maintaining social distance measures.

He explained that discussions will take place with the Parish priests over the measures and appealed for cooperation from the public so that Mass becomes a positive experience.

However, the Bishop stressed that, dispensation is still in place for those who do not feel comfortable with taking Mass at this time.
