LGBTI+ Gozo has said that it is following closely the open call for a new Consultant Genito-Urinary Medicine.
It said that the call, issued by the Health Ministry last month is for a new consultant to be responsible for the running of the Genito-Urinary Clinic (GU Clinic).
The organisation pointed out that “among other requirements the call states that the chosen individual will hold outreach GU Clinics at the Gozo General Hospital and in the community as required”.
The organisation, which it said, has been lobbying for such visits in Gozo for the past 5 years, praised this news, saying that it “celebrates the fact that when we act for the common good, everyone wins.”
LGBTI+ Gozo went on to say that sexual health is not only an LGBTI reality but one which affects every individual and so Gozitans “should always have access to sexual health services, as a primary health care and a right to access decent health.”
LGBTI+ Gozo also asked Minister Fearne “if these visits will be on a periodic basis, and how often are these periodic visits?”
The organisation concluded by also asking the Deputy Prime Minister “what plans are in place to revive the national sexual health strategy, which has been out of date since it was published in 2011?”
