The temperatures are rising and summer is certainly upon us, but whatever the weather, the need for blood is always present, as is the need to maintain good blood reserves in the hospitals of Gozo and Malta.

There will be 5 opportunities throughout the month of August to make a donation of blood in Gozo, with the first session be held this coming Sunday, the 2nd of August.

The National Blood Transfusion Service is encouraging the public to please come forward to donate for the benefit of the many patients who are hospitalised across Gozo and Malta at this time.

Donations can be made at the Xewkija Clinic, located in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

Sundays – last registration 1:00pm

2nd of August from 8:00am to 1:00pm

16th of August from 8:00am to 1:00pm

30th of August from 8:00am to 1:00pm

Tuesdays – last registration 5:00pm

11th of August from 1:00pm-5:00pm

25th of August from 1:00pm-5:00pm.

The Service stressed that due to the Covid-19 situation all necessary measures are being taken to protect anyone who comes to donate blood, as well as the professionals who provide them with a service.

“Blood donors are informed that no swabbing tests are carried out at any stage of the blood donation,” the Service said.

The Service reminds everyone that it is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.
