On Wednesday, the first anniversary of Pawlu Mizzi’s death, Mass led by Canon George Frendo, was celebrated in the evening at St George’s Basilica in Victoria, Gozo, with the participation of the Laudate Pueri Choir, in the presence of numerous relations, friends and parishioners.

That same evening, the roof terrace of Il-Hagar Museum served as the perfect location for a full ninety-minutes of readings from Mid-Dinja Ckejkna Tieghi (collected from Mizzi’s autobiographical writings), musical interventions and an erudite assessment.

Il-Hagar is also currently hosting an exhibition about Mizzi’s life and times – From the Heart of Gozo to the Soul of Maltese Literature.

Among the very interesting exhibits are various manuscripts and other items, including donations by his family. A marble plaque has been unveiled by his widow. A video and sound recordings can be followed. Other books of his are also available.

The exhibition is open for viewing until the 25th of August at Il-Hagar Museum, St George’s Square, Victoria. The museum is open 9am to 5pm seven days a week.
