A 60-year old man died earlier this evening after finding himself in difficulties while swimming at Dwejra.

Police said that the incident happened at around 5.15pm, the man, who is from Msida, was given first aid on site by a medical team from Gozo General Hospital, but sadly the man was certified dead at the scene.

Members from the Armed Forces of Malta were also on site.

A Magisterial Inquiry has been appointed and Police investigations are ongoing.
