The Malta Union of Teachers said that today it is attending meetings with both the Eduation Ministry and the Superintendence of Public Health regarding the health protocols that are being prepared for schools.

“This is an important step so that educators have a clear picture of the situation, and we will therefore be convening the Council on Monday, while meeting with members on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,” to update on the information,” the MUT said.

Meetings with the Government and the respective authorities will also continue so that the Union can give its reactions to what is being proposed, the MUT added.

The MUT stressed that “these days are crucial,” and reiterated, that it will be “issuing its position on the opening of the school year only after assessing the whole situation, both in terms of implementations. of measures, as well as in terms of the number of positive cases of Covid-19 and the transmission rate.”

The MUT went on to say that it is meeting with all experts and authorities in the field, both local and European.

The MUT concluded by maintaining that the “principles that should guide any decision remain the health and safety of every educator and student.”
