While thanking everyone who regularly donates blood, the National Blood Transfusion Service continues to encourage more Gozitans to please donate during a session taking place on Sunday, for the benefit of patients who are currently being treated in hospitals in Gozo and Malta.
The Service reminded the public that blood donations is an essential service, “that cannot be neglected.”
All those who are healthy and eligible to donate are invited to please do so at the next session on Sunday, the 30th of August, at the Blood Donation Centre in Xewkija, Gozo, between 8:00am and 1:00pm (last registration until 1:00pm).
The donation centre is located at the Xewkija Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.
The Service reminds everyone that it is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.
Anyone currently waiting to take a Covid-19 test, or who has had the test and is waiting for the result, cannot give blood.
The Service stressed that due to the Covid-19 situation all necessary measures are being taken to protect anyone who comes to donate blood, as well as the professionals who provide them with a service.
“Blood donors are informed that no swabbing tests are carried out at any stage of the blood donation,” the Service said.
