70% of the work has been completed on Triq Sant’Antnin, Ghajnsielem, meaning that the Port of Mgarr will once again be joined with Triq iz-Zewwieqa, il-Qala and Triq il -Hamri in Ghajnsielem.

This was announced by Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri on a visit to the area, he explained that Triq Sant’Antnin, which is 800 metres in length, is expected to be fully completed within two months.

He said that the work did not only involve repairing the road surface but also the rebuilding of of this artery. Services were completely re-installed as this road forms part of the arteries of many of the services in Gozo.

“With funding of €2 million from the Ministry for Gozo, works on this road include new services such as walk-through culverts, communication networks, water, sewerage and electricity services and stormwater culverts – this is because currently a lot of water passes through this road from Ghajnsielem, Nadur and Qala – there are also new pavements, and retaining walls to reinforce the road, rubble walls and two layers of asphalt,” said Minister Camilleri.

He added that work is also progressing well in Triq l-Imgarr, Nadur, which will be one of the largest infrastructure projects in Gozo with the rebuilding of this essential link.

Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri concluded by thanking the public for their cooperation and the workforce who are striving to complete the projects in the shortest possible time.
