Din l-Art Helwa’s heritage site Dwejra Tower has re-opened to visitors between Monday to Friday in Gozo, this is the northernmost tower of the Maltese islands with its amazing views across Fungus Rock and the Inland Sea.

Tomorrow, being the first Sunday of the month you can find Din l-Art Helwa welcoming visitors between 9.30am and 12 noon in Malta at the Chapels of Hal Millieri, Zurrieq and that of Santa Maria of Bir Miftuh outside Luqa Airport.

Volunteers will be there to welcome visitors and talk about the history, architecture and unique medieval frescos contained within these sites.

The Chapel of St Roque, in Main St., Zebbug, built to invoke the saint to protect the village from the plague, and the 1806 Msida Bastion Historic Garden and Cemetery in Floriana with its amazing view over Marsamxetto Creek are also open tomorrow morning.

Other heritage sites open on Sunday and mostly daily are the newly restored Red Tower in Mellieha (1649), Wignacourt’s Tower in St Pauls’ Bay (1610).

The Msida Bastion Garden is now also open daily between 9.30 and 12 noon Mondays to Saturdays. Being so exposed to the elements these sites are costly to maintain, and DLH said that they still have to find funds to pay for electricity bills and rents to the government.

The NGO is appealing for funds to maintain these heritage sites, both through visits and donations.
