The Gozo Live play writing competition ended on the 31st of July and the entries have been judged, the organisers said.

Under normal circumstances Gozo Live would now be rehearsing a selection of the plays with a view to holding a performance evening in the early autumn.

However, due to the current situation with the Covid-19 pandemic circumstances are very different and the organisers said that for the foreseeable future they would not be able to use a theatre suitable for a performance in the way they would like present it.

“Some of the actors that we generally work with are also reluctant to appear in public for rehearsals and performance” Gozo Live said.

A Zoom performance would not adequately present the plays, and Gozo Live added that it has therefore been decided to wait a while.

As soon as it is possible to hold a performance, hopefully at the end of this year, or early 2021, the public will be advised, the organisers said.

Winners of the competition will be announced at the performance, however should it be postponed indefinitely, then winners will be advised and results will be published in the media.
