The National Blood Transfusion Service would like to thank everyone (over 40 people) who went to donate blood last Sunday in Gozo, including a large number from the Liverpool Supporters Club Gozo.

The Service continues to encourage more Gozitans to give some of their time to please donate blood in the next session, which is on Tuesday, the 20th of October. Donations can be made at the Blood Donation Centre in Xewkija, Gozo, between 1:00pm and 5:00pm (last registration until 5:00pm).

The donation centre is located at the Xewkija Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

The Service reminds everyone that it is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.

Anyone currently waiting to take a Covid-19 test, or who has had the test and is waiting for the result, cannot give blood.

The Service stressed that due to the Covid-19 situation all necessary measures are being taken to protect anyone who comes to donate blood, as well as the professionals who provide them with a service.

“Blood donors are informed that no swabbing tests are carried out at any stage of the blood donation,” the Service said.
