The Children’s Dreams campaign has been launched for this year by the Minister for the Family, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity Michael Falzon, the Chief Executive of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services Alfred Grixti and the Director for Alternative Care Remenda Grech.

Christmas for children is about presents, Christmas trees, decorations, family lunches, sweets, and happiness. However, not all children share this reality.

The main aim of this campaign is to make the Christmas wishes come true of vulnerable children who are living in difficult situations, so that they will have the opportunity to receive the gift they want at Christmas time.

Minister Falzon urged everyone to do their part and help make the dreams of these children come true. He added that the Maltese are known for their “big heart” and was sure that the dreams of these children will be fulfilled in the future.

This year there are 1,924 dreams being brought to the public’s attention, with 24% already fulfilled. These dreams are of children whose ages range from babies to 18-years old, either living with their families or are residents of children’s homes around Malta and Gozo.

Children’s Dreams is an initiative founded in Malta in 2012 by Lina Pecorella in collaboration with the Foundation for Social Welfare Services.

The Chief Executive of FSWS said that this campaign forms part of the Foundation’s annual activities for Christmas time and is being led by the Directorate for Alternative Care.
