155 new Covid-19 cases with 49 recoveries, now 1,649 active cases155 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the past 24-hours with 49 recoveries, there are now 1,649 active cases.

Health authorities said, today’s cases are “still being investigated.” From yesterday’s 134 cases, authorities said that 20 were family members of previously known cases, 8 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 12 were direct contacts with other positive cases and 14 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases and 2 were imported. Details were not given for the other outstanding 78 cases.

The brings the total number of cases up to 5,026. There have been 3,331 recoveries and 46 deaths, the Ministry said. There were 2,823 swab tests taken, with 305,89 having been taken since the start.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is now showing figures for Malta up to yesterday morning, so the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 285.7 with the number of cases showing as 4,737 and 45 deaths. Malta is currently in eleventh position in the EU/EEA and UK. Czechia is at the top with 905.1

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
