Two new testing hubs in Malta will start rapid testing for Covid-19. This was announced today by Minister for Health Chris Fearne.
He explained that from today the rapid testing service will be provided by the new Floriana hub and next week another rapid testing hub will be opening in the North of Malta.
“This will make it possible to do the thousand rapid tests a day without hindrance to the thousands of normal tests that are being done daily in the six existing hubs,” Dr Fearne said. “The plan is to offer rapid testing to the staff of homes for the elderly, Malta International Airport, schools and health workers, among others.
He also mentioned that the new Health Centre in Victoria, Gozo, which, he said, is expected to be completed next year.
It had originally been promised for completion in the first half of 2019. Then answering a question in Parliament earlier this year, Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri advised that the external work on the Centre would be completed by the end of June this year.
