Energy and Water Management Minister Michael Farrugia and Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, visited the La Stella Philharmonic Society Club in Victoria, Gozo, where 40 solar panels are currently being installed on the roof.

Through the installation of these panels the Society will be benefiting from lower electricity tariffs from the feed-in tariffs scheme.

Minister Michael Farrugia remarked that everyone knows voluntary organisations have financial burdens, and praised the Society for the investment, which he said, will not only benefit its members, but also help contribute towards cleaner air.

Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri thanked Minister Michael Farrugia also visited one of the largest farms in Xewkija where an investment is being made by the company Solar Engineering on the installation of 35,000 panels producing 10 megawatts of renewable energy.

The Minister for Gozo said that, “this is an important step that proves even buildings in open areas, such as in this case a dairy farm, can be used for the production of electricity from a renewable source – the sun.”
