The Malta Standards Authority through the Product Safety Act, Cap. 427 of the Laws of Malta, would like to inform the public that the product shown in the photo has been banned, as the said product has been found to be unsafe.

The product, Universal Travel Adaptor, is being banned from the market as it poses a risk of an electric shock to consumers. The product is a universal adaptor for connecting electrical appliances having two or three-pin plugs, with the electrical mains power.

The product poses a risk to consumers as it is possible that while the adaptor is connected to the mains supply, another part of the product also becomes ‘live’ and can be exposed and hence may be touched, thus posing a very serious risk of electric shock to the user.

The Authority has ordered all importers and/or retail outlets to withdraw this product from the market with immediate effect and to advise consumers who are known to have acquired such a product to return it. The Authority also recommends to consumers who have this product to refrain from using it, and / or return it to the outlet they have acquired it from.
