Pharmacists urge President to intervene in debate on the Equality BillThe Chamber of Pharmacists said that it has written to President Dr George Abela to intervene in the debate on the Equality Bill 96 and to safeguard the right to conscientious objection for Pharmacists and other health care professionals.

The Chamber in a statement said that similar letters were sent to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Good Governance and the Parliamentary Secretary for Equality and Reforms.

“Under the watch of these persons who serve the Constitution and the people, pharmacists and other health care professionals must not be stripped of their right to freedom of thought and conscience in the context of legal health care,” stated the Chamber.

“The Chamber of Pharmacists, which is a professional association and also a trade union, takes a serious view of this matter and expects the State to be a guarantor of this right,” it concluded.
