The Malta Union of Teachers, said that this week it has once again contacted the Minister for Education Justyne Caruana and the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, following reports about “intolerable levels” of construction noise near the Victoria Middle School in Gozo.
The MUT explained that from the feedback received this is due to piling at the sports complex and use of heavy machinery at the new school site.
Back in November the MUT advised that the work would start taking place after school hours after it had threatened industrial action. It had said that the school was “sandwiched between two massive construction projects” and “leading to serious health and safety shortcomings and to unbearable noise from the sports complex project.”
The MUT said that it has asked for the Ministers’ immediate attention and action.
Funny that the teachers union is complaining about noise. How about this fruit , fish, bread etc vendors blaring their trucks horns starting early in the morning and all day. A building next to me they were using a jack hammer at 6.30 am on a Sunday Morning. What a jungle we live in and nothing is being done about it.
