Hondoq ODZ application for "tool shed" comes before Tribunal on ThursdayQala Mayor Paul Buttigieg has announced that the application for the reconstruction of a “pile of stones into a tool shed” close to Hondoq bay, has been refused on appeal.

The Environment and Planning Review Tribunal’s decision given today was for a small “tool shed” with a skylight and a parapet and had been proposed on what is actually the “site of a pile of stones on an ODZ untouched, pristine area outside Qala and which was visible from Comino.

The Qala Council reiterated that it “remains resolute in warding off threats to the natural environment and the community. We hope common sense prevails.”

      Well done Paul Buttigeg! and the Qala Council. I wish I could think this refusal was the beginning of a new attitude towards development. ODZ must mean exactly that without exceptions. Let’s try to save what’s left of Gozo’s charm.
