Early this morning, three men who were out at sea on a boat – Matthew Chetcuti, Andre Abela and Donald Vassallo – managed to free some 15 Cory’s Shearwaters caught in a fishing line.

The Federation of Hunters, Trappers and Conservationists, FKNK, writing on its facebook page, said that while out at sea off Comino they spotted the birds, adding that “these people happened to be hunters.”

FKNK published a video of the rescue where the men can be seen cutting the line to free the birds.

FKNK congratulated them “for the appropriate gesture to free these birds back in the wild.”
